News

History Fair Projects Advance to State
Nazareth Academy congratulates U.S. History Honors students whose History Fair projects have advanced from Regional competition to the Metro City Finals, and now on to the State Finals at the Illinois History Expo on May 7 in Springfield. In all, three documentaries and four exhibits have advanced to this stage in the national competition.

On April 28, 2015, Nazareth proudly welcomed 36 members of the Class of 2019 to a Scholarship Award Evening. These incoming freshmen have distinguished themselves both academically and through extra-curricular involvement in middle school, earning either a CSJ or a Unity Scholarship. Along with their parents and representatives from their grammar schools, these young men and women received certification of their scholarships and had the opportunity to mingle and take photos with fellow Roadrunners. We celebrate this achievement and look forward to sharing the experience as each of these young men and women creates his or her own Nazareth legacy.

Representatives from Dennis Uniform will be in the Dining Hall on April 25, 2015, from 8 – 11 a.m. for uniform fittings and orders. All incoming freshman girls, girls in the Class of 2017, and any other young ladies who need a new skirt should plan on attending that morning. Payment to Dennis Uniform is expected at the time of the fitting. In addition, Nazareth uniform polo shirts and optional fleece pullovers will be available to purchase through the NZone on the uniform fitting day.

2015 Summer Camp registration is now open. We offer camps for pom and dance, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, cheer, baseball, football, tennis, running, golf, and strength, speed, and power training for grades K-12.  Go to nazareth.8to18.com to register for all summer camps.  Camps begin June 8.

Nazareth Inducts New Members into Athletic Hall of Fame
On January 24, 2015, Nazareth Academy inducted eight new members into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Nazareth welcomed coach Jim Danko, friends Ronald and Joan Swade, and athletes Kevin Frymire ’05, Susan Kennedy ’88, Alan Swade ’86, Maureen Swade Milligan ’81 and Peter Zavagnin ’05.

Fine Arts Hall of Fame
On April 23, 2015, Nazareth Academy celebrated the fine arts and those who have made a significant contribution to the arts while at Nazareth when the school welcomed new members into the Fine Arts Hall of Fame. The Induction Ceremony took place prior to the opening night of Nazareth’s spring production of Mary Poppins.

Celebrating St. Joseph’s Day
In celebration of the Feast of St. Joseph, Nazareth welcomed CSJ Sisters as guest lecturers in our classrooms on March 18 and 19. Sisters taught in not only the Religion department, but Spanish, French, U.S. History, Band, Choir, Economics, Environmental Science, Contemporary World Issues and Physics as well.

Nazareth’s third FISH Prom for Teens with Disabilities was a wonderful evening for all and a shining example of our mission of unity in action. 38 Illinois State Scholars
38 Nazareth students from the Class of 2015 have been recognized as 2015-16 Illinois State Scholars. The prestigious award is given annually by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). Illinois State Scholars rank in the top ten percent of high school seniors from 671 different high schools across the state.

Nazareth Academy is proud to announce its First Semester Honor Roll for the 2014-2015 school year. The “A” Honor Roll indicates a grade point average of 3.80-4.00 on a 4 point scale. The “B” Honor Roll indicates a grade point average of 3.33-3.79 on a 4 point scale.

Naz WALK: One School, One Goal
On Friday, October 10, 2014, Nazareth students, faculty, staff and family members walked 3.5 miles, raising money for the school’s 2nd biggest fundraiser. The WALK takes students through the streets of La Grange Park, with adult volunteers stationed throughout for the safety of walkers and residents.
