Student Athletes Make College Commitments
Nazareth Academy is proud to announce that three student-athletes, Ellen Chiligiris (Downers Grove), Allison Kurek (Chicago) and Linnea Rohrsen (Chicago) have officially committed to continue their academic and athletic pursuits at Williams College in Massachusetts, Concordia University Wisconsin and Purdue University respectively.

Congratulations to the thirteen Nazareth students honored at this year's Vicariate IV Youth Leadership Awards. Their leadership in putting faith into action was recognized by their individual parishes and celebrated by Bishop Manz on Sunday, March 23. We are honored to count these leaders among our student body.

 Fun, Fashion and Fundraising
On Sunday, March 23, 2014 one-hundred students from the Nazareth Academy Class of 2014 walked the runway of the annual Mothers Club Fashion Show at the Marriott Oakbrook. Over three-hundred guests enjoyed lunch, raffles and an entertaining runway show.

In Individual Competition, Charles Feng (Pre-Calculus) and Cici Huang, who placed 3rd overall in Algebra 2 in Regionals, advance. Also qualifying are the Algebra 2 team (Colin Buenvenida, Tony Calles, Becky Hammond, Cici Huang, Kyle Metzger and Charlie Swarts) and the Oral Team (CiCi Huang and Meghan Sullivan). State Competition will be held at University of Illinois–Urbana on May 3. Congratulations and best of luck to all our Math Club competitors.

Spring Band Concert The Spring Concert will feature Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Concert Band and Wind Ensemble. Concert Band will be celebrating the Beatles 50th anniversary of coming to America by playing selections including "Something" and "From Me to You." The Wind Ensemble will be celebrating Disney anniversaries by featuring selections from "The Incredibles," "The Little Mermaid," and "The Lion King." Percussion Ensemble will perform selections including "Concerto for Garage Band" and "Three Asiatic Dances." Stations of the Cross Prayer Service
As we enter the holiest days of the year, the Nazareth family took time to reflect together during a powerful Stations of the Cross prayer service. We were challenged to ask ourselves what this ancient story means in our modern lives. Students and faculty spoke from their hearts about the crosses we bear and the ways in which we have the power to be the face of God to others.

Fine Arts Hall of Fame
On April 3, 2014, Nazareth Academy celebrated the fine arts and those who have made a significant contribution to the arts while at Nazareth when the school welcomed five new members into the Fine Arts Hall of Fame. The Induction Ceremony took place prior to the opening night of Nazareth’s spring production of “Shrek The Musical!” Nazareth hosted a reception for the honorees, their guests and many Nazareth alumni, including dozens of former thespians, student-directors and crew members.

Roadrunner Dash 5k
The sun was shining the morning of Sunday, March 30, 2014 when Nazareth Academy’s Alumni Association welcomed over 250 runners, walkers, strollers and volunteers to its second annual Roadrunner Dash 5k Run/Walk.

Nazareth proudly welcomed registered members of the Class of 2018 to a Freshman Party on Monday, March 24. If the evening was any indication, Nazareth is looking forward to a fun-loving, high-spirited and engaged class!

Nazareth Celebrates St. Joseph Day
Nazareth Academy celebrated the Feast Day of St. Joseph through Scholarship, Service, Spirit and Unity. The day began with morning prayers read both in Italian and English. We honored the Sisters of St. Joseph who have poured their lives into the heart and soul of our school and celebrated Sr. Terry and Sr. Mary Jo in a special way, as they share their gifts and faith with us as members of our staff and faculty.

Family Science Night
On Friday, February 28, eleven Nazareth students, along with Biology teacher, Mrs. Sheila Emmett, volunteered at the Westchester Middle School Science Night. Naz students worked one-on-one or in small groups to direct middle schoolers and their parents in the extraction of DNA from kiwi fruit. “They were absolutely fantastic ambassadors for Nazareth Academy,” said Mrs. Emmett.

Ash Wednesday Mass
On Wednesday, March 5, along with Christians around the world, Nazareth Academy observed the beginning of Lent with a special Mass and the distribution of ashes. Despite the snowy weather prompting a move from the Chapel to the Rooney Center, Nazareth students, faculty/staff and many parents and grandparents, gathered reverently to pray and reflect on the meaning of Lent in each of our lives.
