Regional Game Vs. North Lawndale Ties State Overtime Record
The Roadrunners pulled off one of the bigger upsets this season as they defeated #3 seed North Lawndale by a score of 59 - 55. The game took over 2 1/2 hours as 8 overtimes were played before the Roadrunners prevailed. The game tied an IHSA record for the amount of overtimes in a state playoff contest.
Ryan Powers Voted Trib Local "Athlete of the Month"
Nazareth Academy Basketball standout Ryan Powers was voted the January Trib Local "Athlete of the Month". Ryan averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds during the month. "Athlete of the Month" is one of many awards Ryan has received in his two years as a varsity player. During his sophomore season he was named to the Glenbard West All Tournament Team, ESCC All Conference Team, and the Suburban Life All Area Team. During his current junior year he was named to the Riverside Brookfield All Tournament Team and has moved into 6th place all time in scoring at Nazareth Academy.
Ryan Powers Named To All ESCC Team
Junior Forward, Ryan Powers was named to the All East Suburban Catholic Conference Team. This is the second consecutive season that Ryan has been honored, coming off another outstanding season where he averaged 15.3 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game. At the conclusion of the 2009-2010 season, Ryan moved into 5th place on the Nazareth Academy All Time Scoring List with 892 points and 4th place on the All Time Rebounding List with 483.
Ryan and Drent Advance To The IHSA Three Point Sectional Level
Congratulations to Stephen Drent and AJ Ryan on advancing through the IHSA Regional Level of the Three Point Contest. Both Stephen and AJ will compete at the Riverside Brookfield Sectional, looking for a chance to advance to the State Finals in Peoria.
