Two Chosen to Attend National History Day
Congratulations to Matthew Steinbrenner and Cassie Levitske on having their history projects chosen to attend the National History Day in Maryland during the month of June. Their projects were 2 of only 8 chosen from the state.
Six History Projects Advance to the State Level
Six projects of Nazareth juniors who participated in the City-wide finals of the History Fair advanced to the state level which was held on May 6, in Springfield. The projects include: "I Fosse! We Fosse!" by Cassie Levitske; "Fred Hampton - I am a Revolutionary" by Garrett Mitchell; "Tearing Down the Walls of Nationalism: How the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council United a Community" by Matthew Steinbrenner; "Special Olympics: Forever Changing Views of the Handicapped" by Riley Vaughn and Liz Kusper; "What's Black and White and Read All Over? The Chicago Defender" by Brian Duranty and Kevin Reardon; "Polish National Alliance: Keeping Up With the Community" by Magda Falat and Brianne Mahoney.

Illinois State Scholars
Thirty-nine seniors, 23% of the Class of 2010, have been designated as Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Assistance Commission. Rankings are based on a combination of ACT and/or SAT 1 test score results and class rank at the end of the sixth semester of high school.
