This is a concert ensemble and the flagship instrumental group at Nazareth. The Wind Ensemble is open to students in grades 9-12 with the approval of the director. This ensemble performs advanced high school musical literature incorporating standard repertoire and contemporary pieces. In recent years, this ensemble has earned recognition at local contests including the 2013 Leo J. Henning Award for Most Improved Band, Best Woodwinds, and Excellent and Superior Ratings at contests. This ensemble completed a Midwest Tour in April 2013.
Concert Band is a concert ensemble that is open to students in grades 9-12 with the approval of the director. This ensemble is the training ensemble for the Wind Ensemble. Students in this group perform standard high school repertoire with a focus on developing musicianship and proper technique. Recently, this ensemble received Excellent ratings at contests. This ensemble completed a Midwest Tour in April 2013.
Marching Band is an athletic band and the most visible ensemble at Nazareth. Students in this ensemble perform at all home football games and a variety of parades in neighboring communities. The Marching Roadrunners work to provide entertainment for these events. Special events hosted by the Marching Roadrunners include Band-o-Rama, an event for middle school students and alumni to participate during the Homecoming performance.
Jazz Ensemble is an extra-curricular ensemble that is open to students in grades 9-12 with the approval of the director. This ensemble performs a wide variety of jazz literature with a focus on developing the skills to perform music in the jazz idiom successfully. Students rehearse one evening per week in preparation for concerts.
Pep Band is an athletic band that performs at a variety of athletic events throughout the Nazareth Community. This band is extra-curricular and open to students in grades 9-12. The Pep Band can be seen at basketball games, pep rallies and other special events.
Percussion Ensemble is a concert ensemble with a focus on developing proper technique. Students gain exposure to a wide variety of music including chamber, concert, marching, and jazz. This group performs percussion features at each concert and serves as the percussion section for each of the concert and jazz groups. This course is open to students in grades 9-12 with the approval of the director.
