Maximizing Student Success:
The Nazareth Block Schedule
At Nazareth Academy, we believe the school day should work for our students and faculty, not the other way around. To support this, we utilize a Block Schedule designed to provide a dynamic, engaging, and student-centered learning environment. The Block Schedule also closely mirrors the college experience - focusing on fewer subjects for longer periods, preparing students for higher education.
How it Works: Blue & White Days
Instead of eight short periods, Nazareth students attend four 80-minute classes each day. This schedule alternates between two sets of classes:
- Blue Days: Students attend their first four courses.
- White Days: Students attend their remaining four courses.
This alternating cycle allows for deeper focus, less frantic transitions, and a more intentional approach to the academic day.

Key Benefits of Nazareth's Block Schedule
Balanced Workload
Students prepare for three or four classes daily rather than eight, allowing for higher quality homework and study time.
Study Hall
Every student is guaranteed a dedicated study period to manage their workload.
Diverse Electives
The flexibility of the block allows students more opportunities to explore elective courses that spark their interests.
Activity Period
A dedicated mid-day break allows students to attend club meetings, collaborate on projects, or meet with teachers for extra guidance.
A Dynamic Classroom Experience
An 80-minute block isn't just a longer lecture. Our teachers use this time to create a multi-dimensional learning environment:
- Varied Instruction: Classes are typically broken into 4-5 smaller segments to keep students engaged.
- Hands-on Learning: Ample time is provided for complex science experiments, in-depth research, and student-led discussions.
- Personalized Feedback: Teachers have built-in time to offer one-on-one guidance.
