Visual Arts at Nazareth Academy
At Nazareth, we believe that visual literacy is a vital form of communication.
Our Visual Arts program is designed to spark curiosity, refine technical skills, and encourage students to see the world through a creative lens. From the tactile experience of sculpture to the precision of digital design, we provide the space for every artist to flourish.

A Comprehensive Curriculum
Our courses cater to both the curious beginner and the aspiring professional artist. The curriculum is choice-based to help aspiring artists prepare for our AP Course where they're responsible for creative decision making. We offer a diverse range of introductory and advanced coursework in various mediums, including:
- Traditional Arts: Drawing, Painting, Ceramics and Sculpture.
- Modern Media: Photography, Digital Art and Design.
- Innovation: Utilizing the 1:1 iPad program, students integrate digital tools into their creative process, preparing them for modern portfolios and creative industries.
Beyond the Classroom
The artist’s journey continues outside of scheduled class time, providing opportunities for students to meet the peers in different grade levels who also have a passion for visual and digital arts. Nazareth offers numerous extracurricular opportunities for students to deepen their practice:
- Creative Clubs: Collaborative spaces to experiment and to be involved in art and design opportunities within our wider community.
- National Art Honor Society: Students work in a service-based capacity within the arts.
- Publishing & Exhibition: Students participate in a number of local, regional and national opportunities to showcase their work including our own Scenes and Sounds Fine Arts Showcase each May.
